The Nation’s Favourite

However the dish originated, fish and chips is a national favourite, eaten and loved by every generation  - in fact its position as the nation's favourite hot take away remains unchallenged.

In 1999 the British consumed nearly 300 million servings of fish and chips - that equates to six servings for every man woman and child in the country.

From the very beginning fish and chips have been recognised by the great mass of the British public as providing a nourishing meal offering good value for money. However, for too long, a small group of people have not been able to enjoy this traditional take away meal.  Until now!!!

The Traditional English Fish and Chip Company (TM), in affiliation with Green Island Chippy in Congleton, have worked together to provide sufferers of gluten and wheat intolerance the opportunity to enjoy fish and chips without compromising their health.

As well as being the perfect coating batter for all your old favourites, it is also great for making Yorkshire puddings and pancakes.  (Click on to our recipe book for further information).

Following the guidelines from the Coeliac Society we have perfected a batter that not only fulfils the strict criteria set down by the Society but also actually falls well below the expected levels for safe consumption for Coeliac sufferers as well as sufferers of other debilitating illnesses brought on or aggravated by gluten and wheat based additives.

Now everybody can eat Britain’s favourite meal and  enjoy it!
